What is your designs for efficient mining machines? As a newcomer to the 1.5.2 packs I've started off on a FTB Unleashed server. But as RedPower isn't updated yet, I can't use the mining well/frame designs I've been using on Ultimate.
I've seen Direwolf20's design with turtles and mining wells, but that seems a bit too complicated for me, as I'm terrible with ComputerCraft, so now I'm asking for your designs!
I'd perfer the larger ones that can run by themself and need none to minimal maintenance, but all designs are appreciated.

I'd also like this thread to be a thread to discuss the pro's and con's of several different designs, and also figure out new and efficient machines to get us our precious minerals! Early- as well as mid- and late game designs are all welcome, so that we can supply our base along our entire journey!

Keep those design concept flowing!

Calclavia MFFS adds frame-like system

a line of 16 ME TPlanes moving up and down from layer 10 to 40 works very efficiently.

Quarry: 7 bps for 50 mj/t

This frame design: 16 bps for 20 mj/t (ish)

What are ME TPlanes can´t find anything in the wiki? Wich mod?

Short hand for ME Transition Planes.

Instabreak, no lag, instant routing.

Applied Energistics, and part of the network. +1 u/t per Plane.

Your design seems very interesting! I've played around with the Force Manipulator from Calclavia's MFFS now, but as far as I see, it can't move itself. If that is the case, it severly limits the possibility to use it as a quarry :/ also, I can't seem to change which direction it moves, is it determined by how you place the Manipulator?

Would you mind sharing a picture of your contraption so that we can see how you lay it out?

It does move itself. You have to scale the forcefield downwards so it encompasses the manipulator, too.

You can change it's direction by omniwrenching it. It will move in the opposite direction you're facing when placing itby default.

But for no turtles, use multiple manipulators.

Because forcefield, first person to reinvent the U.S.S. Enterprise wins my full respect :P.

I can't get it to move! :o It is moving all the blocks around it, as long as there aren't any blocks right "behind" the Manipulator in the way it will move.. it's nothing with that anchor button right? cause I can't get it to work in either way :o it moves the capacitor and the thing that makes force energy but not itself :o

Scale it backwards?

Wait lemme get a pic of my setup.

if he ever changes anything, you can always do an inchworm with it.

EDIT: I think he changed something. Use a simple inchworm drive. A manipulator can move another manipulator.

I'll take a look at that, thanks!
