Ok, I am just getting started with FTB. I promise i have done some due diligence on google
...(hold on zombie breaking down my door)...
And i searched the forums. However I just cant find the answer.

How do i break a Pump so i can move it to a new area with more lava? I tried a pick once and it turned into a machine block. neither of the wrenches seemed to work (though i was nervous so i didnt go for a long time.)

Forgive the intensely noobish question but I would really like to find this out.

There are actually THREE wrenches. :) I think you want the one numbered 30183, from IndustrialCraft. It's the one made with six bronze ingots.[DOUBLEPOST=1354843717][/DOUBLEPOST]BTW, I think most people use the Buildcraft pump (made from a tank and a mining well). Well, I do anyway, because it can be powered for free by three Redstone engines. I've never actually tried the other pump though ...

All IndustrialCraft machines will "break" into a machine block (or adv. machine block, depending on which machine) if you just break the block. You have to use the wrench mentioned in the above post to remove them properly, and even then it has a small chance to still break. The only way to make sure that they don't break is to use an electric wrench in lossless mode.

IndustrialCraft machines include: macerator, generator, pump, mining well, induction furnace, electric furnace, recycler, mass fab, compressor, canner, extractor, and more. I'm not sure if GregTech (an extension to IndustrialCraft) machines have the same wrench requirement.

The IC2 wrenches pick up the machines by right clicking. Unlike the other wrenches, they don't rotate their respective blocks except for the energy storage and converter blocks.

Three bronze across the middle, one at the bottom center, two at the top corners. If you have the supplies, upgrade it immediately to the electric Wrench so that it never wears out and so that it is immediately recognizable. You can also switch it to Lossless mode to eliminate the chance of getting a machine block back, but remember to switch the mode keybinding to something other than M as a bug in Rei's Minimap won't let anything else use M.

Thank you for the fast responses! i went ahead an made the electric wrench and gave it a full charge. I switched the keybind for mode change to "." i changed the mode to lossless but i still cant make the pump disassemble with right click. i can bang on it with left click like a caveman but i doubt that will do what i want it to do...

BTW just for the sake of eliminating any confusion. I am using the pump #515. the one made form the mining well.

You got a machine block from that? That's the Buildcraft Pump. A pick works just fine for me.

Are you sure you the earlier one wasn't the IC2 Pump instead?
