FYI the multi-blocks used in ProjectRed are actually a standalone mod called Forge-Multipart, which has an API which mod authors can choose to use, however the author(s) of Applied Energetics have chosen not to.
You can use Buildcraft Facades with ME cables to achieve a similar effect, as they are compatible.
