Hello everyone,

So the title very much explains the question. I currently have a tool set of Alumite from Tinkers construct, and pretty much all of them has a ball of moss and ~50 redstone, if not more, on them.

Now, I can't put my finger on it, at the end of the day, are Tinkers Construct tools better than ProjectE Tools (Dark and red matter tools) , or opposite to so? I like the "area of effect" that matter tools got, but Tinkers construct are very unique in themselves, making me stuck on a fence between what I should main, and what I should just have lying aside (For example, a fortune pickaxe could be neat and thus using Tinkers construct).

What one should also remember is that one piece of red matter is over 400 Thousand EMC. One alumite is nowhere close to so, but still.

Any help on the question is appreciated as well as any opinions!

Regards,

Xariez

For me, TiCon tools are all about customization and scalability. U start from below and grow up to the very top, while keeping your tools the way you like them, speedy, smelting, luck.... That is the best point when comparing against other tools, and what keeps me away of other "OP" tools that other mods such as ProjectE might add.

In the end, its all about your personal opinion on the "matter" (terrible puns, i know...)

I kind of got a smile on my face of those puns, but looking away from that, I see exactly where you are going, but neither am I sure if i can call the matter tools "OP". Sure, if you cheat them in "just to get a tool" they are OP, but do keep in mind, a full set of matter tools that you actually use (Axe, Shovel, Pickaxe, MAYBE even Sword) costs a lot to create, so theres that.

Anyways, I do see where you are going with it. Most things are a matter of personal preference indeed, but getting opinions are always neat as well ^^

The main issue I had with Tinkers Construct is that I seemed to be doing the same thing and making the same tools each game. If you're still keen on Tinkers though then go for them. You can get area mining tools via Tinkers, so no need to worry on that front.

If you're after other possibilities, then you could look at Bound tools from Blood Magic, Awakened Ichorium from Thaumic Tinkerer, Botania's Terra Shatterer etc.

While I am currently kind of going for no seperate worlds, but instead one huge one with different setups and different methods of handling things, I can still agree with what you are saying. I ran Obsidian tools for a very long time, now it seems like i've kind of been clinging onto Alumite, and that feels kind of odd if i were to say so myself.
Sure, TinCon has area of effect as well, but (afaik) only 3x3x1, whilst the matter tools have much larger ones if set to it. As far as Blood magic and Botania i'm not a huge fan of to fiddle around with all these kinds of magic, at least not in this world. As far as Thaumic Tinkerer go, I can't say for sure whether I have it or not.

Draconic Evelution is something I partly had forgotten about so thank you for bringing up that. Nevertheless however, thats extremely late game.

Just one last thing Projekt e isnt lategame if u use no Kind of blaze rod dupe System?
I mean Projekt e is expansive But if you have a speed 3 ender quarry about 10000 10000
You wont worry about draconium issues

Wait... The projectE team left that exploit in?
Then again it is hard to correct considering that feedback loop was caused by resource multiplying mechanics. You'd only fix it by removing blaze rods as a convertible fuel and make their EMC less than cobble. And that wouldn't be ideal.

I never said that ProjectE is Endgame/lategame, Draconic Evolution is however. Abusing and exploiting mods in order to get that "extra" isn't in my favor however. I do use a quarry+tesseract+chest sorting system as well as auto-smelting and pulverizing, but thats still NOT a abuse of the system.

Area of effect mining tools are something I absolutely need early game to relieve the tedium. Why go for the more difficult route when its so easy to make them with Tinkers? I usually go with a diamoned tipped stone hammer (repaired with cobble) until I have access to better materials, then make a cobalt-head flux powered hammer.
