Problems loading multiple modpacks

Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Details of the issue:
Started experiencing problems after upgrading to Windows 10. Almost every time I try to load a modpack Java stops working while the pack is loading (for all FTB packs) and once in a while it works fine. I currently have 3.5 GB ram allocated via FTB launcher and have tried raising/lowering it.

I have completely reinstalled Java, completely reinstalled FTB, updated drivers for my NVidia graphics card and ensured that it is being used over my integrated card, and installed all windows updates.

System specs
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M
CPU: Intel Core i7-4710HQ 2.50 GHz
Memory: 16 GB
OS: Win 10 Home
