Problem with the Launcher

Every time I want to play FTB and I login after the launcher screen, nothing happens.
I have updated to the new launcher and the problem persists.
I have tried both .jar and .exe files but this hasn't worked either.

Can anyone help me?

Try to locate the file updatetemp\FTBBETAA\minecraft\bin\natives\lwjgl.dll
If it exists, try to temporarily change the name of the "Jake's Games" folder to "JakesGames" or something like that (just as long as it don't contain spaces or other special characters such as apostrofs).
If we are lucky that will help.

Unfortunately, none of this has worked.
I even tried making a new folder and re-downloading the launcher.

Restart computer and try rename it again.

It wont allow you since it is open somewhere else.

It's probably considered to be "still open" because the Java instance tends to continue running even after it has crashed. You can usually solve this by restarting (as Lawbroken suggested), logging off and back on (Switch User will not be enough), or running one of the following from the Run command (if you know how to use it):

taskkill /F /IM java.exe
taskkill /F /IM javaw.exe

(It's most likely the second line, rather than the first - but I'm not sure how the FTB launcher launches the java instance, so it could be either).

I have realised, however, that perhaps Java needed updating, so I will update and restart to see if this works.

im trying to rename the file, but lwjgl.dll cant be open by windows. what program should i use to open it? notepad is just a bunch of symbols

Just mark it and press F2
