I have a large system going and have noticed that the Export Buses no longer export to the attached machines, they simply stall. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting them and have even set up a secondary network but with no success. Everything is connected right as both networks see each other and they are getting enough power, but the attached machines are running out of materials to process even though there's plenty in storage.

Is this known?

Could be a known bug in the version you are using, however we have no way of knowing if you don't say which version of AE you run in which modpack.

In the meantime check for errant redstone signals or disconnected dark cables. Double check the configuration on your busses as well.

You sure all the parts of the network are loaded? Are the export bus in a separate network than the storage of the items?

Have 5 MFE's providing tons of power, AE Cables ans ports are hooked up correctly on a single network and I can tell the AE System is working because the other machines are getting materials.

Did they ever work? You sure its not trying to insert something into a slot it cant?
Any chance of a screenshot of the export bus + machine in question that is bugged?

When you said you disconnected the busses did you remove the cable connecting them or did you break and replace the busses. Breaking and replacing the busses might be a good option to try.

And like Rhn said it is important that the whole thing is loaded at once. If a part of the network becomes unloaded while the rest of it remains loaded sometimes (depending on the mod) strange behaviour can occur.

Did both and it wasn't working. rhn, it was working correctly, but inserting blocking onto a slot for water. I tried the same technique I did for Industrial Sawmills (placing a stick in the water slot, which didn't effect those machines), but then the whole system wouldn't insert the materials into the right slot. I took the stick out and it placed Netherrack in the water slot.

Ok now I am confused. It was working, but it inserted items into the wrong slot. So you put something else into the slot to block it, and then it didn't magically pick another slot to put the items in? I have no experience with Gregtech, but something tells me you either placed the export bus on the wrong side of the machine or the machine got some weird input interactions with ME.

If the latter is the case then you could try an intermediary step between the export bus and the machine. Easiest would be a hopper, but something like a factorization Router should allow you to pick the excact slot which to insert the items into.

Everything was working as it should. I placed the stick in the water slot as a stopper for any other items and it worked OK at first...then I had the problem. Will go with Routers if I encounter that problem again.

I found that the AE system still puts Netherrack into the water slot every now and then, but the machine still functions.

Looks more like a GT issue than an AE issue. I haven't played with GT myself, but that machine may insert stuff into different slots based upon the side the inserter is inserting into, ex. top vs. bottom vs. one of the 4 sides.

Yea that water spot is an overflow spot. Technically inserted from the top should go to the top slot, inserted from the bottom should go into the bottom slot (for things like mercury cells). I always use routers so I can control all my machines from a single set of routers. Then you just connect to the machines from the routers using things like furnaces or anything with an inventory to use like a pipe from the router. Then I set the routers to input into a specific slot, and give it a machine upgrade to make it ignore the things I'm using as pipes.

Edit: Also great for reducing the overall power draw of your AE network when routers distribute across several like machines like furnaces, grinders, etc.

Found another problem which is severely pissing me off: my AE System is eating patterns placed into the Molecular Assembly Chamber and created items put into the System. For example, I made a pattern for Cobblestone Transport Pipes and the pattern just disappeared when I tried to make some of those pipes.
