I must say, the amount of wood this thing is making is just ridiculous. I never understood why people are always so eager to nerf boilers, but now I dso: this thing can power several 36hp boilers for hardly any material investment (at least, hardly any compared to the amount of energy produced).

EDIT: I've hooked up another 36hp boiler to my wood production, and i've noticed another problem. I am pulling logs out of the log storage barrel with pipes and an autarchic gate. However, it doesn't pull them out quickly enough for two boilers. I tried placing a redstone energy cell next to the autarchic gate, but that had the opposite problem - I ended up with logs flying all over the place, even when the cell was only set to output 5mj/t. Is there a way to fine-tune the rate of log-pulling?

Yes.

Not gonna lie this farm is an absolute beast! After about an hour or so, i've got over 130 stacks of logs. Its a shame they're nerfing the heat value of plansk in the next update :(

Meh. Even if they do, it won't mean anything. I have 250k logs sitting in a DSU feeding a LP boiler. That's purely off of one farm. I plan on having at least three before I'm done with this map. They can nerf planks all they want, but I am never, ever going to have less than I need.[DOUBLEPOST=1368305224][/DOUBLEPOST]

RP2 filters? You can set the amount that they pull out each redstone pulse, and then further configure how often you want the pulse occurring with a timer. (Though I'm not sure if they work with a barrel. I'm leaning towards them not working.)

You could also use another pipe+gate if you're not already doing that.

I use Infinitubes for all of my transportation needs. It's not inherently in the modpack, but let me tell you, it is a wonderful mod. It entirely replaced RP2 for item transportation for me.

they do work, you just need to attach them to the bottom of barrel

Use Applied Energistics.

I've decided against using AE for now, since I've got a working setup that doesn't use power. I have another question though: is tree growth rate boosted by xychorium soil? I want to see how many boilers I can power with 1 farm.

I'm using forestry item & energy tesseract connected to planter which sends sapling (bronze upgrade) - export bus from my main AE network and also from barrel from SC2 tree farm - golem FTW. I use the same tesseracts to harvester and wood logs, saplings and apples are sent to second AE network in powerplant - wood smelted to charcoal which power solid HP boilers (2 right now - 18 in future), saplings go to fermenters which biomass go to stills and next to iron tanks and powered to liquid HP boilers (2 right now - 18 in future). As a backup i have small SC2 tree farm which i can make bigger easily. Also i have thousands of wheat from golems & xycraft soil farm - about 10 soils for each block - i 'm wondering to add 30 soils to each block so wheat will grow in matter of 20 seconds. Also i checked that harvester can shear leaves which can be changed in fabricator (8 leaves) to plant balls which can be compressed in compresor and then go to fermenters - second way to get biomass. For the best production ratio in MFR tree farm i'm using 2 blocks difference between tree and xycraft soil in one farm (more leaves), in second farm i have 6x6 for wood logs. Xycraft soil eliminates the need of using fertilizer - which need bonemeal - but when you have skeleton farm you can do fertilizer because xycraft soil need 1 redstone, 4 stone bricks, 4 green xycraft which you must smelt, 1 iron and a 4 saplings. But then you won't have to worry about the need of automating fertilizer.

PS Xycraft soil can be used for vanilla trees - extra biomes aren't working good - some work but 2x2 trees aren't. I'm using oak wood beacuse you have apples which can make apple juice - more biomass from saplings and compressed plantballs, also good as food :)
