Hello everyone!

I've been wanting to try this modpack as I've been watching a few people playing it. I downloaded it and everything but when I start it up, it LAGS SO BAD that it's virtually unplayable. I also tried activating FastCraft but that only helped a very tiny bit. It's technically still unplayable.

I don't have a BEAST computer but I've been able to play other packs before.

Here are my comp stats:

Operating System: Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit

Motherboard: ASRock 880GM-LE FX

Processor: AMD FX-6100 Black Edition 6-Core 3.3GHz

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3

Memory: Ballistix (By Crucial) 8GB [2x4GB] DDR3 PC3-12800

Graphics Card: [HIS] AMD Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB

Anyone have any suggestions that can help or is this pack just SOO heavy that not even my specs will run it?

Thanks a bunch!!

Hello Gold,

I have the max amount of ram allocated to the launcher (3.75 GB) and I tried turning down all the video settings I could.

Then I'm out of ideas myself, sorry. Others who know more maybe able to help still though, so don't worry much yet.
Just being curious, what was your fps in the other packs?

Hello Gold,

Why have you allocated the max? Do you really need it for any particular large pack? With only 8GB of RAM total that might be causing your problem. Always allocate the least amount of RAM you need.

With the game open, try opening the Task Manager, go to the Performance Tab, click the Resource Monitor.
Under Memory do you have any Free memory? If not then under Disk you will probably notice the Pagefile process using a lot of disk bandwidth. This is because the computer is forced to use your harddrive as RAM, which is really slow.

Try and lower the allocated RAM in the launcher. You can get a estimate of what range it should be in by pressing F3 ingame and looking in the upper right corner.

What Java version are you running? That's another critical piece of information when dealing with MC performance issues.

I had it that high up because I was messing around with the settings. After the java update I still have to keep up at about 3GB anyway.

Thanks Padfoote! It seems like my java was outdated. I thought I had already updated but I guess not :p It's still a tiny bit slow but definitely playable unlike before. I'm looking into upgrading my hardware in the near future to help prevent some of these performance issuses.

this is also a laptop

i run a small server about 5 to 8 people on it and it runs fine it laggs very little . i would suggest check the version of java you are running and only set mem to 3 gigs max if you have an 8 gig system. also i use mine os turnkey 64 bit for server side now that was a little hard to setup with the new modpacks....that was due to the way they install now.

Something that helped me was to add optifine. It may cause a few graphical errors, but it should improve overall performance a little.
