Having setup a server for my Private pack, I've realised that I need to specifically disable a mod on the server (Zan's Minimap) - so can't just use my general "pack" - I need to provide changes for it.

Is it possible to, with Private Packs / 3rd Party packs, provide a Server Pack too? I know the Launcher allows for it, but I don't see documentation for it anywhere.

For private packs, no. They are intended to only be run on a single server and the pack author is expected to maintain that server. We don't want to encourage other people to set up servers for private packs.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping that I'd be able to (ab)use that server pack in my private pack so that I could automate the updating of the server (using the XML for the modpack to get details of when the pack is updated).

I guess this is still possible for public 3rd Party though - so I might still write the scripts :)

It's actually something I am working on. I can actually decompile and look at each mods main class to check the @mod annotation and see if it's client only. I am hoping to automatically generate server files for exactly that reason. Additionally, creeperhost lets you put in a pack code and it installs the server files for you, if they are there and set up right. It would make it very easy for amateurs to set up a server.

But that's still at least weeks away.
