Preventing HP Boiler Resets. Possible?

Last night I logged off with two HP Boilers powering away at 1,000'C. Everything was running swell. My charcoal was still producing a net-gain and I could finally relax and start another project. This morning, both boilers were at 20'C and beginning to consume massive amounts of charcoal to rebuild energy. I have two 1x1 chunk loaders over both the boilers and the engines they are contained in (two side-by-side chunks).

I'm also the server owner so if there is something wrong with the chunk loader config I'd like to learn whats gone wrong. Thanks!
 
Is the area where your charcoal is produced and stored also chunkloaded? If your boilers are running, but they don't get new material to burn, they will cool off.
 
Is the source of the fuel (a barrel, chest) loaded by that chunkloader and is the source producing the charcoal loaded? Because if not it just runs out of charcoal because the game can't take stuff from an unloaded chunk.
 
Yes the charcoal production is within a chunk loader as well on a separate Applied Energistics network in a Mystcraft world. Do Chunk Loaders + Mystcraft not work that well? I can relocate the factory production utilities if need-be.

Edit: Our server restarts every 6 hours as well.
 
This makes me wonder if the chunkloader failed (causing loss of fuel), or did the boiler "break" (causing loss of all steam and heat) and "fix" itself when the server restart?

Any chance your server runs MCPC? If so, that causes annoying behavior with Mystcraft and chunkloaders. On server restarts, the chunkloader won't force-load the Mystcraft world until a player enters it

We are using MCPC. I'll relocate our factory into the overworld. Thanks Seraph.
 
I rebuilt my entire production facility and it's working now better than ever. However my sheep/skeleton mob grinders that make the industrial fertilizer don't seem to work now when I'm out of the server for several hours. Hundreds of them spawn but never die until I teleport to where the grinders actually are. The frame rate starts off at 0 but eventually gets to 60. I can shoot a quick video showing the setup.

Try the same process and see if it works. If it doesn't, try using railcraft world anchors, those tend to be more reliable than chunk loaders, but require Ender pearls.

I've logged off for the night but do personal anchors operate just as well? My server limits players to three 1x1 chunks. (Chunkloaders are force-limited to one chunk, and seemed to preform better than spot loaders). Can personal anchors be auto loaded with pearls?

IIRC Personal Loaders only work when the owning player is logged in to the game. The World Anchor will work logged in our out, and covers a 3x3 chunk area.
 
Damn. Well now it's constantly exploding after 10+ hours of not being on the server. Two aqueous accumulator's under each boiler don't keep it loaded with water during the 10+ hour's I'm not online. So now I've got several problems:

1. Boilers resetting temperatures to 20'C. (Since the video now over 60,000 charcoal to spare).
2. Boilers repetitively exploding when I rejoin after 10 hours (water levels zero).
3. Mobs not being grinded while I am offline but continue to spawn. Thus bringing server-wide FPS to a grinding halt. Considering banning soul shard spawners as anyone could make the same mistakes I did and screw up our world.

It's almost like certain facets of certain chunks load but not others, or some chunks are loaded and others are "frozen" in time. I can't explain it and I think I'll just be forced to switch to an easier source of power... Thanks anyways all.

You already have all the things for a biofuel factory and generator, that could be a good replacement.

I had a problem with my liquiducts becoming disconnected along chunk boundaries, even with all chunks being loaded. This blew up a few combustion engines before I rerouted the piping.
 
I moved one boiler so that all 34 engines and both boilers were in one chunk instead of two. I'll check back on it once I wake up to see if the boilers are still working. Thanks for the tip.

If it hasn't been fixed, biofuel + generator sounds like a great alternative. Thx for the idea!
 
Sorry for the delay, the boilers (since I've moved them both into a single chunk) didn't blow up over these past few days but they did reset. I'll be switching to something else. Boiler's are already complex beasts as it is, add in constant resets and explosions it makes the entire process a nightmare. Perhaps the biofuel + generator for the time being. Next up: Powering several nuclear reactors with bees.

Aggressive mobs instantly despawn unless within 128 blocks of a player or in a dimension that has absolutely no players at all. This is vanilla behavior and doesn't change for mobs that are spawned from a soul shard. Thus, your skeletons are not getting farmed.

Could it be that some part of your charcoal logistics are outside of the three loaded chunks? Being allowed only three loaded chunks seems like a rather extreme limitation, though I will admit I'm not familiar with what is typical for servers.

I've never experienced a boiler reset that wasn't caused by a cut fuel supply, and I usually have a few of them in every world I play. I know, that doesn't help you in the slightest. It's just that my guess would be insufficient chunk loading in this case. If you're the server owner, can you try temporarily making each location (boiler + charcoal + anything else that is relevant) fully chunk loaded (e.g. with a 1-2 chunk margin to the radius of the chunk loading, 25-49 chunks loaded at each site)?
