If you want examples of why its overpowered then i'd have to say its because of the sustainability of it. Saying "if you set it up wrong and light on fire and die 5 seconds later"... Lets be honest, if you're too retarded to see the molten bar filling up as you try it out then you deserve to die. The kenetic generator needs to be tweaked so it doesn't do that. Right now it is just all over the place. The pack has come a LONG way, so to anyone thats keeping up to date with the versions Vs using the released FTB pack versions i can see why someone might say its way OP vs other people like Lambert who doesnt know wtf you're talking about.

Lambert's on the RR test team and we, unlike FTB until quite recently, have properly configured MPS for months. And you may not be aware, but the trickiest part of current MPS is that the heat gain and loss rates are biome specific. Hot biomes like deserts and volcanoes (yes, BoP has volcano biomes) and (even worse) the Nether shoot up heat so alarmingly fast that it can take people used to bounding around without fear in normal/normal or normal/damp biomes off guard.

And we do notice it. It's just that we notice it in mid 120 block leap, land going "Oh no I'm lighting on fire!' in the middle of our fantastically cool-looking and hostile 1.5.* nether and realize if we move even one block we will go back on fire. "Oh here come the nitro creepers. Welp, lesson leaned! Active cooling is required!" Even then, I have to move carefully mining in the nether. And unless you're looking for Certus Quartz, you DO want to mine in the nether.

As an aside, you gotta be as smart as a whip to cop the kinda lame attitude you just copped. Even then, it's not cool. Play nice, kiddo.

Lost as always
Eh, the armor from MPS is great for utility, but either you're going to need to counterbalance a lot of weight or run with energy shielding to also have it function as armor, which is expensive both in terms of materials and in terms of energy usage. Also, I'm not really a huge fan of the flight aspect from MPS, nor the speed you can go, which is why I am glad you have the option of not cranking the speed up to Ludicrous. I have no desire to go plaid.

The fall absorbers are cool, the heat sinks are required to function in a desert or the nether, the kenetic generator is a must-have... everything else can go fly a kite really.

The tool is tremendously useful for utility. The leaf-blower, of course, for a sickle-like action, the buzz-saw-blade module is simply amazing for what it does, the Lux Capacitor is amazing, and I happen to really enjoy the crafting module as well. However, for a weapon or other tool, I'll probably just go with TC. Mattock works exceedingly well as an axe, plus a hoe, plus it works as a shovel on dirt (though not sand or gravel unfortunately), the pick can have upgrades like Fortune III and auto-smelting (which makes for an awesome combo), the weapons can be upgraded with some nifty abilities, and in general they can be made to be superior to anything MPS can handle.

Mmmm fair enuff, i suppose that does go hand in hand with how i said that MPS mod does work great by itself... its really when you add other mods to it that it becomes wonky... so we can add BoP to that list of "this makes it wonky". I could see how that situation you mentioned in the nether would be harrowing =p.

As for the shot at Lambert, i suppose it was in poor taste and ignorance, however he does have an excessively overbearing attitude on this forum, so i suppose i was just kinda venting in a way. My apologies.

Wonky? The situation Dave described sounds like "business as usual" to me.

Vanilla biomes have that data as well. Deserts and the nether are vanilla. Most people just... don't understand and assume the mod is buggy.
