Hullo everybody,
I am looking for a good power setup/different options for power supplies (EU and MJ)
Currently I have 8 combustion engines running on biofuel (from a MFR bio reactor) which gives me 40 MJ/T
thoughts on this?
Add images if you can, thanks for any help :)

oh any btw, what mod are these "36HP Boilers" from? (i would like to read up on them) and how good are they?

The boilers are from railcraft and make a pretty good fuel source the boiler part is pretty obvious what it means the HP stands for high pressure and the 36 is the number of the high pressure boilers you have you then sit that on a bed of fireboxes and make steam with it then use that steam to either make EU or MJ. They are a pretty good source of power and can be run on coal/charcoal or fuel/biofuel and in general are better per unit of fuel than using combustion or Stirling engines dependent on the type of fuel you use.

No, and please don't. You get more MJs from the biofuel in a combustion engine than the biomass in a biogas engine.

And you nearly break even burning biofuel in a combustion engine after using a still to process biomass. Its not worth the effort if you're not using a boiler (or GT deisel generators)

That depends on the use. I'll typically refine down to biofuel early on when I'm running my quarry on it. It's got a higher energy density, so I don't have to make as many trips to power the quarry for a cycle.

Can you convert from biofuel to biomass?

No

For a group of people using item tesseracts for spaces as small as 10 blocks, sometimes the avoidance of thesseracts when it makes sense to use them is baffling.

On my current Ultimate world I'm thinking about making something strange. I want to use potatoes to convert to methane to burn in some gas turbines. This little experiment is going to aided by some Thaumcraft golems and Xycraft soil. Of course not the most efficient way to get EU but it is different from the lava spam I normally use.

im pretty sure that both produce 5 MJ/t
either way, biogas doesnt explode and my combustion engines have gone BOOM 3 times already..

Whatever MJ/t they produce, I've tested them side by side and the Combustion engine is the clear winner. I basically gave both 1 bucket of Biomass and stored the power in Redstone Energy Cells, after substracting the cost to convert the Biomass into Biofuel the Combustion engine still produced more power.

As for them exploding, are they getting enough water? Because they won't explode if they get enough water. You can also burn Biofuel in a Liquid fueled Boiler, but just like Combustion engines they need lots of water to prevent explosions.
You might want to look into Liquiducts if your piping can't handle the water your engines/boilers need.

Happy to use tesseracts in their place, but this is usually before I get to that stage. On worlds that I just pursue the auto-mining thing at all costs, and sort the rest out later.
