I made the mistake of leaping before I looked, and landed in a 2-deep pool of poison. I thought I'd be fine - after all, I should just need to swim to the surface... but I couldn't make any progress towards the surface because of the periodic damage. Each tick knocked me down to the bottom of the lake - I couldn't even climb a one-block step. The result of this is that poison lakes appear to be literally impossible to escape without special equipment.
Is this intended? Am I missing something? Is there any way I can increase the time between ticks so that it's actually possible for me to get out?
On a similar note, I wish Mojang would make knockback relevant to the damage taken. Damage that deals half a heart shouldn't cause much (if any) knockback in my opinion.
