So I've had a real bug for point and click adventure games lately, partly inspired by a chap at work being unaware of what they are (despite calling himself a gamer ). Anyway I was wondering what everyone's favourite point and click games are (as I want to play more of them :p)?

So my favourite recent point and click is definitely the Deponia games, some real Tim-Schafer-Esque comedy, plus I love that cartoon art style.

Now my actual favourite of all time is a really hard thing to decide, so I'm not going to :p. Here are some of my favourites:-

The Dig - I really enjoy the story, plus I'm reasonably sure this was the first game I completed without cheats or a walkthrough.
Myst Games - I love the difficulty and the innate fustration caused by these games
Discworld 1 & 2 - Terry Prattchet, need I say more?
Grim Fandango - Tim Schafer, need I say more?

Anyway, thoughts, feelings or musings on this genre of game?

Epic game, one of my first games ever. Still play a little from time to time despite beating the whole entire thing XD
They still do weekly updates so it kinda never ends.
Oh, THOSE kind of games.
Well I think that AdventureQuest would fit right in here then.
I played this game back when that huge fire war event was popular, or was it before that event?
Yeah it IS a very childish game. But if you are bored and want to spend half an hour without logging to steam or any other big brand game, then battleon would be right up your alley.
I have 2 characters in there, one male brute (werewolf) and one blonde female mage (vampire).
I've been tempted to buy membership (which is a one-time-fee) and get one or two classes to max. A dragonknight who can wield that fine-looking dragonslaying sword from the stone. Or a Berserker. Or that animal-taming class.
Like Kevin said, they update every week, and you can go adventuring on whichever scripted story they have out there.

When I was a kid I was introduced to the adventure game by Myst and the Space Quest series. One of my favorite games of that genre was Dark Seed II. Really cool and disturbing game when I was a kid.

Primordia isn't a bad choice for another recent point and click. It is an interesting store involving robots in a post-apocalyptic world. I'm a sucker for the mixture of sarcastic humor combined with a serious story.

Also, apparently The Dig is available on steam. I wish I knew earlier, I've been trying to find my CD for years.

My own intro to the genre was Monkey Island, waaaay back when. I wasted many hours on the first two, then found a copy of the third several years later. I must admit, I haven't played numer four nor any of the newer 'Tales of' series.

Necromancing thread!

Point and Click's hold a special place in my heart. That's how I first got into gaming. Although, back when I first got into gaming, it was less point and click, and more, type what you want to do and hope the game's parser can understand you. :p A lot of those early text based games had sequels that were point and click, so that's where I got my start. Quest for Glory (shameless plug: buy them on GOG.com!) is probably my favorite PaC series of all time. As for more recent games, Telltale has some excellent PaC adventure games. I'm playing through The Walking Dead right now. Such a good game.

My favorites have to be the first two of the Broken Sword series, absolutely amazing games.

Really liked "Full Throttle" as well.
