No problems here, it is what is supposed to happen.
One of the mods of the mod pack ensures that no terrain generates, ever, so creating a new world will only be good as a test world/creative.
Hope it answers the question.
EDIT:
To play the challenge, you need to download the map folder, and place it in the saves.
