It prompts before updating an already installed modpack.
Since servers will always lag behind by a few hours, days, even weeks it is frustrating to have the version (with extra mods such as optifine added and one disabled (guess which one) to match the server) of the modpack blown away and replaced with something that is useless.
Then just selecting the correct version does nothing unless you then force update, which then sometimes leaves you with BOTH the old and new versions of the mods installed then leaving you with no choice than to wipe the folder and start again...
