So I've been looking for awhile now, and I can't seem to find anything similar to what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a mod that will introduce a "player mimic" in a sense. I have an automatic pig grinder that I setup, but in order for the pig spawners to work, I must stand somewhere within the radius of the spawners so that it spawns the pigs. I was wondering if there is a mod out there that works similar to this, I would like to know the name of it and where to get it. If not, here's an idea for a mod developer.

Also if this is in the wrong thread, move it wherever it's appropriate. :)



Here is where the pigs drop down and drop cooked pork, which is automatically imported into my ME system. In order for pigs to spawn though, I have to be standing where I am now. It would be nice to have them just automatically spawn even if no one is online or around the pig spawner.

Chunk loaders sorta work like you're thinking, but not quite.

I heard Soulshards got an update for which higher tier soulshards don't need anyone nearby. But there's a good chance I'm wrong.

Otherwise, definitely nothing.

There is a kind of solution. You can open new client in offline mode and join your world. Of course you need PC good enough to keep up.

I think I heard somewhere that if you move the spawners to a different world and chunkload them and nobody is in that world they work. Sorry if this is wrong.

Perhaps a new version fixed the issue I'm about to describe, but the version of soul cages in the current recommend version of the Mindcrack pack (v8.2) works a little weird in SMP. The tier 5 spawners are -supposed- to work even if no players are near it, but on a server it only does this as long as no one is logged on. If at least one person is logged on the server, then someone has to be near them for them to work, even when properly chunkloaded.

Now, Omegatron's post about putting the soul cage is a different dimension might work, I haven't tested that. But I can say with certainty that the version in Mindcrack 8.2 only works if no one is on the server or if someone is near it, assuming the player(s) logged on are in the same dimension as the soul cage.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the soul cages work in dimensions where players aren't at?

If there is a player in a dimension, then any mobs that are further than 128 blocks from a player will despawn. Tier 4 or 5 shards will spawn regardless of player proximity but the despawn rule still applies.
