packs are greyed out when i try to open them

all the options just get greyed out, i dont know why it works fine on my laptop but not on my desk top. i did some googling, one person realized the pack wasnt in the same folder as the launcher, mine is. the person in my attached screen shot never got an answer, at least in that thread. any help would be appreciated.

Force update your launcher using the Force Update button in the Options tab.

this was on my desktop, but i didnt really mind, but now it happened on my laptop, which i actually play on. iv tried everything, force update, included. i just updated java, nothing happened.
