Resonant Rise had a fantastic idea of breaking up game play by eras, information age, industrial age, etc. What if someone took that concept one step further and made a progression pack where you start at the beginning of caveman days, (Paleolithic era) all you have access to is basic tools and ores such as stone and wood, everything that is beyond that era's technology is disabled. After a certain set of conditions are met, such as a certain amount of achievements are earned, or a top level item in that era has been crafted, then the next era unlocks (Mesolithic era).
The Mesolithic era was about hunting and gathering, so maybe a few of the related mods and tools unlock, like bows, or better gardening tools. Again once a certain set of conditions are met the next era unlocks, in this example it would be Neolithic. During the Neolithic era, or the end of the stone age, minecrafters gain access to reinforced stone and basic concepts of free standing shelters, cattle farming, etc.
Once a certain level is reached, such as the Bronze age, the older tools from the previous era are locked and can no longer be crafted (existing ones can still be used until they run out of durability. Once the medieval period is reached, minecrafters focus more towards magic mods than industry, and so on up until the information age and beyond where computercraft, galacticraft, etc is used.
The end goal would be to create as close to a true-to-mankind experience as possible and FORCE the player to use each mod in order, unlike other "kitchen sink" mods.
What do you think?
