My brother and I play dw20 on lan, and for the first few days it went fine. Now, whenever he opens his inventory, minecraft closes. We already tried deleting NEI.dat, which didn't help. We also reinstalled and restarted multiple times. Does anyone have a fix? This only happens on lan, not on his worlds.

Which pack are you using and can you please post the console log from his computer here. To do this ensure that in the Options tab 'Show Console?' and 'Reopen launcher after exiting minecraft?' have check marks next to them. Then restart the launcher. Connect to the server and have him attempt to open his inventory. After he closes minecraft the console and launcher should reopen. Now click on the 'Paste my log to pastebin.com' button. This will add a link to the console at the bottom of the console. Post that link here so we can see his log. If you are unable to obtain the console log please post an error report from his computer to pastebin.com manually and post the link pastebin.com gives here.

Try updating Java. He's running 1.7u11; the latest is 1.7u51 (be sure to uninstall first, restart, then install the latest x64 version). This may help stability a bit. You can also try using the JVM arguments provided in on of the pinned threads at the top of this forum to see if that helps.

Edit: Also, you may want to also see if there's any odd differences in his config files versus yours. Or just totally bypass that by giving him all of your configs so both match exactly. Back up his old configs first just in case.

Thank you for the pastebin of the error log. Backup his player.dat file and then delete the one off the server and see if he can log in without this error. If he can he had something in his inventory that is causing the crash. Did he pull anything from NEI that was labeled as 'unknown' or 'debug item'? Keep the backup, but copy it again and try using MCEdit to remove the item(s) from his inventory. Then copy the edited one over to the server see if he can log in without the item(s). If he can proceed to give him back his lost items minus the debug item(s). If it was not a debug item and he or you crash as or after you give him the items it will be trial and error to see which item is causing it.

If he still cannot log in with a new player.dat then it might be the configs as Tristam Izumi pointed out. However, I'm leaning toward an item in his inventory.

Odd how, I did edit the biomegen configs, but that doesn't seem like it would crash his game when he opened the inventory.

He actually killed himself to completely empty his inventory, so we know that isn't the case, and we already matched up the configs with no success, but i'll try deleting his player.dat.
Edit: Deleting player.dat didn't work.

I do not play on servers, but there should be an NEI.cfg inside the server folder on his computer. Similar to the one in the SSP saves folder. Have him try deleting that one.

That didn't work either, we even tried removing NEI and inventory tweaks entirely, and it still happened.
Edit: We got it to work a couple times by having him pick up stuff, then killing him and having it pick it up again, which got him through the next couple sessions. Does that help at all?
