Me and my brother want to play on a modded survival world together via "open to lan" however, i dont want to limit him to only being able to play when im playing. on our vanilla world we had about a year ago it tended to come down to him wanting to play when i didnt feel like getting on and now with me having a full time job and him having highschool, we're not even going to be home at the same time most of the time.
is there a solution to this? i heard alot of different answers for using dropbox. would that work? its only me and him, and only "open to lan", no server. we will have separate bases so i dont care what he does when im not there and vice versa

Easy enough. Just download the server files (if it is an ftb pack, just click on the modpack, then click "Server files" or something similar), then open up port 25565 on your router.

is that both of us downloading the server files? also its a custom pack thats like half made of FTB and iv never done anything with servers with mods. and im mainly concerned about the fact if the save files are on my computer, he cant play when im not even here to log onto my computer. if we just simply synced the world file to/from dropbox or something everytime we got on/off, wouldnt that just simply allow either one of us to open it to lan as long as its not both of us at once?[DOUBLEPOST=1409207817][/DOUBLEPOST]i also have no idea how to run a server or how any of that works even without mods

syncing the files? thanks. ill do some testing b4 hand just incase tho ^^. heard rumors it would mess with player positions and inventories when different accounts open to lan than the original, but i doubt it. ill test in vanilla to avoid the painfully long loading screnes mods cause lol
