Im getting the same thing. I get the console but no launcher then the following error http://pastebin.com/tp5Zfac6 tried using ATL for stellarcraft 1.6.x and that works fine.

Ive been getting the same thing and it seems my browser updated java to a 32bit version when my OS is 64bit. I downloaded the offline installer for 64bit java and the launcher is working fine now

The issue above seems to be related to 32bit java.... I updated to 64bit manually and my launcher is working fine now. Just a heads up.

Thank you P46EY. I had the same error and found out my 64bit Java was out of date. Once I updated it, I could now open the launcher successfully!

If you have a 64bit OS, you may need to update your 64bit Java. Get your current version from the Programs feature in Control Panel, then compare it to the current version on the Java website, which is ver 7 Update 45. Download and install the 64bit offline version for Windows from this page: http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

If you don't have a 64bit os then you cant install the 64bit java.
