Open GL issue(i think)

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Title:
Open GL issue(i think)
Launcher Version:
1.4.3
Modpack:
i have tried infinity evolved, horizons 2 and crackpack
Modpack Version:
the latest
Log Link:
Details of the issue:
i have looked up this topic and there are a few others with this same issue, however their solution to the problem was to switch over from intel graphics to nvidia because the intel drivers for windows 10 dont support open gl. when i launch a mod pack, everything initializes fine until it gets to the last part when it initializes open gl, then it freezes and wont keep going after that. i have tried using less and more ram as well as using earlier versions of java(and yes, i have the latest version of java as well, that didnt work either) and since i have tried it with three different packs, its obviously not something wrong with the pack.
im not sure what to do at this point, but i hope that the log i gave in the paste bin link helps...

my specs are:
Processor: Intel Core i5 2.40 GHz
Ram: 16Gb
Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics 4600
OS: Windows 10

King of the Hill
Code:
05:25:26] [INFO] LaunchFrameHelpers.printInfo:34: Java version: 1.8.0_91
Code:
-- System Details --
Details:
    Minecraft Version: 1.7.10
    Operating System: Windows 8.1 (amd64) version 6.3
    Java Version: 1.7.0_79, Oracle Corporation
U wot m8?

Anyway, if it's indeed the Intel Drivers Issue, delete all installations of Java, Install Java 8u20(I think), and post the results

so what happened was, i used the java uninstaller from oracle's website, and it told me it had uninstalled all other versions, but it still left files in the java folder, which the ftb launcher was still detecting and using. so i manually deleting all other instances except for 1.8.0_20. now in the options section, there are two options for the same version(displays two 1.8.0_20's) the first one i tried yielded the same result as all the others. i decided to try the other option of the same version, and this time, it crashed and left a crash report which i will obviously include... not sure if thats any better of a result but maybe that crash report will help solve this?

that was wierd, the site wouldnt let me upload a file with the type 'log'... whatever, i changed it to txt, hope that doesnt break the data or anything, i cant imagine that it would

i tired launching again but it didnt crash, guess it was just a fluke, so i re downloading java 8u20 completely as well as the mod pack (just in case it got corrupted from all the times i clicked 'kill minecraft' when it stopped responding). it still stops when it gets to initializing openGL.... some stuff has been changed since i last posted the log file, so ill post the one from the launch i just tried

im not very knowledgeable about these kinds of things, how would i go about disabling texture compression?

Google is your friend.

To me it looks like you have recently updated to windows 10. If this is the case then you most likely have the wrong drivers installed and minecraft does not work.

I suggest going to your video card manfacturer and checking for drivers for windows 10.

Thanks man, updating my graphics drivers worked. Although for some reason, it wouldn't let me update them from device manager... First, It Said that the software was up to date, then when I went on the developers website and found the correct drivers for my version of Intel graphics and installed the latest one, it told me that it wasn't compatible with my device... Anyway, I Force updated it and bypassed the issue with some instructions from a helpful YouTube video and now everything works fine! Just want to say thanks to all of you who replied, you've all been super helpful :)

Never ever update drivers using update driver. Always get them from the manfacturers site.

Glad you got it working. :D
