Summary of the problem Open Computers io package / motion sensor

What is the bug? I tried to use the Open Computers mod today, but encountered the following problems:
1) requiring the lua io package causes the computer to panic
2) the motion sensor is not emitting any motion events

require("io") - computer panics
having a motion sensor adjacting to the computer does not fire any motion events
