I should properly update this with i play on minecraft 1.5.2 and not 1.6+

Reason is that some of the mods i use isn't updated for 1.6

Old Railcraft: steam per tick was constant regardless of temperature.
New Railcraft in the 1.6 packs: steam per tick rises with the temperature of the boiler, so it will not output max steam if it's not at max temperature.
So this means since i play on 1.5.2 i should make a system that automatically stops input when its very hot ?

Thanks again for all the advice!

In 1.5.2, a hot boiler is at its most efficient. It will burn fuel at the slowest rate when at 500C for a LP (iron) boiler or 1000C for an HP (steel) boiler. You want to keep that boiler at that max. temperature by either constantly feeding it fuel or else unloading its chunk, which is tricky to say the least. Your presence in the vicinity will cause the chunk to re-load. Easier to just feed it renewable fuel.

Alright will properly make a biofull production area and fill the boiler with that and normal fuel, thanks!

Can you somehow confirm that? That would really change my plans for power generation lol

I haven't specifically tested this myself. I read the stuff about it supporting 18 steam dynamos in another thread where people were discussing how much steam the boiler produces in 1.6 and how many dynamos it can support when cold/max temp. I then read another thread about fuel efficiency in light of the new nerfed numbers for some liquid fuels (I believe it's BC that did that, but don't quote me on that). Someone said they'd tested it/found new 1.6 "power produced per bucket of fuel" numbers/whatever and now max temp boilers were exactly as fuel efficient as burning the fuel in dynamos.

So that's where my info comes from. I went ahead and just built compression dynamos since I didn't need anywhere near 18 dynamos worth of power. If someone has tested this and can confirm/refute this info, please post away.

Have you gotten into extrabees and high speed mining operations?

In previous worlds, yes. Not yet in this one, hence the lack of need for boiler-level power.

I added atomic science to my server. I wanted something more cool looking than a boiler. A full size fusion reactor produces a ton of steam. I still need to do a test to see how much I can pull from a max sized one. From one that wasnt full sized I managed to run over 40 steam dynamos. The fuel infrastructure for an AS fusion reactor is much smaller than biofuel solutions as well.
