Just a random thought, do you think the official FTB mod packs will have their own servers in the future? If so would you use it, why or why not?
And eventually it would die as people would be getting griefed and the server would lag from heavy load.
If servers cost a lot of money, then why do most popular mod packs have servers? A good example of a popular mod pack that has a server with tons of slots is Infamy: Modern Warfare.there'll probably never be official FTB servers as the servers would have to have a large amount of slots for the amount of players who'd want to play on it, which would cost a whole lot of money. and imagine how much work it'd be to keep it moderated
Infamy doesn't have as massive of a following as FTB.If servers cost a lot of money, then why do most popular mod packs have servers? A good example of a popular mod pack that has a server with tons of slots is Infamy: Modern Warfare.
To put this into perspective 1000 slots would easily be necessary and 1000 people playing ftb? Yeah you'll only need 1500 gigs of ram(low ball). Totally doable for a server. Not to mention having that many people on one map. My god; it'd be insane.Infamy doesn't have as massive of a following as FTB.

Exactly. Then how about all the Solid State Disk space, bandwidth (1GBPS is about right if you have 1k slots filled), Then how about the CPU?? There isn't one that can go insane Ghz on a single core.
Forge Fields I believeThere was a server posted on the FTB Twitter account talking about assorted minigames...
It still annoys me that there's a game in minecraft called spleef >_>
