Seriously, 27 minutes, anyone want to give a synopsis?

Basicly a guy organized a event saying it will be close to minecon and stuff, raised hype and the event was looking like a afterparty wedding avenue with nothing related to minecraft other than the people who were there. There were about 4-5 giveaways of different stuff, but nobody won anything and whoever wouldve won a competition of some sort, wouldve gotten to be the bew YOUTUBE SUPERSTAR with a MOHM or something tag before his name and he will get more famous than CptSparklez and people will subscribe to him just because of the tag. Because the event was postponed from December to March, people couldnt get their money back since of the Paypal refund period being 30 days.

2nd half of the video he talks about this.

I'm wondering if a class action suit could take all those assets this [expletive deleted] advertises on "Craigs List" (the 8 room house in Fla. that he allegedly rents out for "photo shoots" and all it's furnishings"), sell them and distribute to anyone who can prove at least financial loss such as Pay-Pal records...

Speaking of which, hopefully Pay-Pal notices this "event" and changes their contested billing policy to encompass more than 30-days.

The end of the video also has some good tips on verifying that an announced event is real, including checking the venue to see if it's been properly booked and for how long, and checking with alleged sponsors to see if they are indeed sponsoring the event.

This is a pretty decent start, but it's a bit easier to see if this type of stuff is legitimate.
--Any Youtubers, Mod Devs, or other "famous" people showing up?
---Did they post anything on their Channel/Facebook/Twitter?
--Someone other than the event host is going to advertise this in some way, right?

Odds are, if you answered no to any of those questions, then it's probably a bad idea to go. Seriously, who'd go to a Star Trek convention with no Actors? I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but there's a certain level of common sense for these sort of things.

Quite a pity then, isn't it, that Common Sense is only slightly more common then Unicorns, isn't it?

Common sense is rare.

I don't believe common sense is even a factor here. There's logic, then there's common sense. Logic is what says "Maybe this isn't legit? I should check this out..."
Common sense would be "Oh it's just a Minecraft convention! It'll be fine." Because lets be honest here, this hasn't happened before! Or if it has, not on as big a scale as this.

The above article also had a link to the "apology". Read it, it's worth a laugh (although after reading all of it you'll be quite sad that this level of crap exists outside of 4chan).

These things were all mentioned in Bebopvox's video.

I just didn't want to ruin the ending for everyone. :D
