Title Not Responding

Details of the issue So this is the first time I've tried to install mods and it seemed simple enough at first. The first time I ran it, the game was absolutely fine and I watched a video or two to try and get optifine to work with it. To do this, I was told to remove TipTheScales as it would mean Optifine didn't work (I don't know if this affected it).
Now it won't load fully. Every time I load it, it's stuck on the same part where it says the application is not responding.
Loading - Initializing Minecraft Engine - 3/7
Rendering Setup - Loading Model Manager - 3/5
Loading resource - Model Manager 1/1
After this, I've waited a long time (over 10mins) and it still isn't responding.
