I wouldn't mind helping you out, but first you have to decide if Mindcrack is really the right choice. If features Greg Tech, which is a very cool mod with a lot of end game content, but it also makes the game much harder early on.

If you're a noob at FTB, you should play Direwolf20's pack. You can even follow along with his videos and everything, it's pretty cool. And he's really good at teaching you all the stuff about the machines you need to know.

I may not be the best out there, but what I lack in immediate knowledge, I can make up for with research! Ask away, and if I don't know the answer off hand, I ought to be able to find it, given some time.

OH! Something that should help everyone, not just newbies, is the (unofficial) FTB Wiki. It might be a bit off, depending on what pack you're using, but its an invaluable resource.

Haaaaa... the best thing about minecraft... install a completely new pack of mods and re-learn the game all over again. :D

Yeah... either DW20 pack or Mindcrack pack, when you launch the game open a tab with youtube on your browser. It will help you alot.
And if you can't find any help there with more technical stuff, just ask here, i'm sure everyone is willing to help you out.

As a first step find yourself and bookmark the wiki/thread/website of every mod in the pack you're using. Googling "minecraft <mod name>" will without fail get you that as the first result. Maybe 90% of questions that get asked here could be answered in 5 minutes if the poster took the time to at least look at the wiki of the mod in question. I also make it a habit of just randomly reading through the pages before/after I play. You miss on so many good inventions just because you don't know about some particular specialty of a mod.

I can make that a little faster for you. Click my sig, you'll find the guides there.

Things blowing up sounds like either wrong size packets and cables on ic2, or overheated engines, overloaded pipes on buildcraft.
Or just a creeper.

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs happens.
