So, in Direwolfs latest modpack my friend set up a server without changing configs.

Now we have went around 2kms in every direction of our base and NO sign of a village, we belive now that something is screwed up, other stuff like gomblin houses spawns, but not villages.
He also checked so it was enabled in worldgen config, and it was

Now, since we got far into the world we cant really start over, and "living without" emeralds is impossible...

So what can we do?

Villages only spawn in certain biomes (plains, deserts, ...) so perhaps you have the wrong biomes around you?

You could try to travel very very far in the nether and open a new portal to a totally new region in the overworld and get more lucky there.

There are other sources of emeralds btw. You can mine for them in extreme hills biomes.

Thanks for fast reply

I have gotten into desert biome and i think plains too (just very flat land with alot of grass?) and no luck yet

The nether deal, is it "safe" to open another portal? They wont in some way connect to eachother?

Nether portals go to approximatelly the location x*8, y, z*8 in the overworld (or /8 if you come from the overworld). So if you move about 1000 blocks in one direction in the nether you will come back approximatelly 8000 blocks further in the overworld. The risk of portals 'colliding' is only when you make portals too close together but in this scenario you don't have that risk.

villages are subject to the RNG gods. you may not see one for miles and then end up with like 5 right next door to eachother.
there's a few ways to get emeralds... you could mine in biomes that have emerald generation or you could try and go to the twilight forest, where there's a few ways to find emeralds.
either find them in chests, or emerald ores in hollow hills or try and find some transformation powder and use that on a witch, which will turn the witch into a villager.
you could then either autospawn more villagers and drop them in a smeltery, or autospawn a few and have them ontop of a hopper, or you could always trade with them

Or you can make your own village with just vanilla mechanics! People often forget that Vanilla Minecraft has stuff too. If you cure two zombie villagers (which have a random chance of appearing normally) and build a proper house following the rules (with light hitting one side of the door) then you can make your own village everywhere. I have done it in vanilla. It is a *lot* of work but VERY rewarding.

Maybe I stole them?
I got around 10-13 villages surrounding my base did get a free smeltery out of it xD
But I think in the original vanilla MC it was so that one would spawn every 3000 blocks not sure of it tho.
