No more Infinite Ocean Solution?

I'm currently playing a modpack that's not on FTB, however this is an issue that relates to most if not all mod packs and vanilla minecraft itself.

Is there a solution to the generaton of infinite oceans? I'm getting a sick of being on a 5000 block wide island surrounded by ocean of infinite area. It really puts a stopper on exploration.

Trust me, no ocean is infinite. Very big yes, but in no way infinite.

can allow you to map out (default) biomes, and you can see while oceans are big, they by no means go on forever.
