Preventing too many overlapping mods and unnecessary resource strain. You got Gravisuite(My all time favourite), Draconic Evolution(has OP armours I believe), TC + TC addons armours and whatnot.

There's also the Tinkers Construct armor (my personal favorite) if you are not hell-bent on flying.

While we all love Our Lady of Overpowered Perpetual Motion (MachineMuse), she hasn't updated to 1.7 in ages. And right now a new power armor is still in its infancy.

Let's not worry about it ATM, you have options available to you.

Ender IO Dark Steel/Simply Jetpacks is another alternative. Lots of upgrades, plus with EnderIO's enchantment system letting you choose your enchants, its pretty powerful stuff before moving on to Draconic Evolution gear.

Ive been having more fun without it. A combination of armors and enchants from several different mods does the trick and is more of a fun project than MPS ever was. Simply Jetpacks, EnderIO, Thaumcraft (and thaumic tinkerer for a certain enchantment) makes a really nice set of godlike armor that has everything I want. Not creative flight but infinite jumps with the ability to toggle hover mode, step assist, fast walking (boots of the traveller are one of the few speed boost armors that are effective when you are flying) and night vision.

I seriously think it is a shame that more people don't give Gravisuite a chance. If you don't do anything IC2, then make this an exception.

The armours are maybe not as flashy or OP as other mods, but they are filled with well thought through features. The Advanced NanoChestPlate is a very solid midgame armour. Good protection and fast(if you want it to be, press ctrl to boost) and agile jetpack flight. The GraviChestPlate is a very fast(again when you want it to be) and practical creative flight solution merged with the protection of a Quantum chest.

Now this might not sound like anything special, but the special features is where it is at:
  • Recharge the armours from the inventory with the Gravisuite Advanced/Ultimate Lappacks. If you are a bit clever you can easily set up a system to remotely recharge these lappacks and send them back to your Ender Pouch or whatever. If you have Random Things the Player Interface makes it possible to automatically extract, recharge and return the lappacks to make you have endless power for marathon exploration/building/whatever sessions.
  • The armours will automatically recharge any IC2 style tools. While this being neat enough(Mining laser etc.) this is a BIG deal when you combine it with the AMAZING "Advanced Diamond Drill" from Gravisuite: TiCo pickaxe, shovel, excavator, hammer all in one. Enchantable through books, super fast, mines all 9 blocks no matter hardness of the one you point at, places torches from ANYWHERE in inventory on rightclick. Bye bye TiCo tools cluttering up my inventory :p
  • Fully enchantable with books.
  • Goes well with the "vanilla" IC2 armours and Electro-Magic Tools(TC addon).

I guess it's just many people don't give IC2 a chance and just use TE or EnderIO instead.

I'm with you on this. I actually stopped using MPS a few versions ago because it kept me from trying anything else. I also didn't like that you couldn't enchant anything, although it was so OP, you didn't need to. I am really liking Simply Jetpacks since they can be armored and enchanted. Until I get Angel wings, the jetpack with the rest Dark Armor is working great. The Dark boots negating all fall damage once you upgrade them is nice bonus.
I just got the Ender dragon and got lots of the dust to start Draconic armor and am looking forward to it. Kinda nice playing with all these different armors as well as setting up XP farms and everything I need for enchanting. Basically things I never did before 1.7 in all the time I have played MC.

I'm liking Bound aromr and Terrasteel armor as well, when combined with Angel Ring or the Flügel Tiara. Well I kinda dislike how the Angel Ring doesn't consume power or aything.
Simply Jetpacks is cool as well.

Simply Jetpacks! Enough said.

Ok, I need to say more. LOL Don't waste time on the low tier jetpack (leadstone) except you need to make one to make the next higher tier - don't use it tho or else it won't work in the recipe (actually, it was probably because I put armor on it, that's why the recipe wouldn't accept it). And skip Tier 2 as well if you can, just go right to Reinforced (the third tier, middle tier) which should be relatively easy to make. Then work on getting the full Flux-Infused Armor set, it's awesome. Read this page too.

Yes, Blood Magic's bound armor. It doesn't have flight though, but you can make potion flasks for this.

Even better, make some Extra Utilities wings, they're cheap (1 nether star basically) and get a speed boost from the bound armour. I do love bound armour, I just wish you could still book enchant it :(

Honestly I don't really care for a few of those. Sure, it automatically recharges, but the powersuit does the same ting for an all-in-one, plus I love the idea of customizability and slowly tailoring armor to your needs. There was another mod similar called EXO, with dynamic armor levelling. Seems to have died, sadly.

Lost as always
I've given up on IC2 and its dependent mods, but for your end-all-be-all uber armor, look at the Blood Magic Bound Armor. You can do pretty much anything. If you bind in Master Blood Orbs, you can even make it self-powered so it doesn't constantly drain your LP. For flight, just use the Angel Wings Ring from ExtraUtils. It even fits in a ring slot in Baubles!

Personally, for early/mid game, I use TiCo Traveler's legs and shoes, Mekanism armored jetpack, and Goggles of Revealing. I upgrade the TiCo legs with feather fall for immunity to fall damage. This pretty much gives me everything I need until I start getting into actual late game.

Honestly, the Traveler's Armor from TiCo is horribly under-utilized for what it can do and the level you can make it at. It has good armor stats, good utility, and good upgrades.

Ender IO's Dark Steel armor does. It has to be upgraded to get all this stuff. You can add capacitors so it is powered(it still uses some durability, but the top level capacitor takes 95% of the damage). You can get speed boost, jump boost, and can walk over 1 block hihg steps without jumping. The boots also negate all fall damage. You can even add a glider to the chest plate that works like the Open Blocks glider. It is fully enchantable and if you use the enchanter from Ender IO, you can pick your enchantments. The only thing it lacks is flight.

You guys just have to try the slowfall enchantment on boots in place of other fall protection means. It literally makes you fall down to the ground slowly unless you are holding the sneak key.
