So I finally started getting my resource generators going, but I noticed that the Autopackager mod was removed from SF v2.5 for some reason. This is a problem since I can't take the raw materials I sieve/generate and combine them into smeltable blocks efficiently now.

Are there any suggestions on what else I could use to fill the gap? I've read that the ME system might be able to do something similar, but it seems like it would take huge amounts of space, so I'd prefer something smaller if I can possibly get it.

Thanks in advance!

OK, I like the Auto Compresser better then the old AutoCompactor after experimenting, and now completely understand why the AutoCompactor was removed: this basically works like a "fixed/advanced" form of the old machine.

In exchange for requiring (a tiny amount of) power to compress items and needing transfer nodes to move items to/from chests - same as everything else - it works faster and allows all block faces to be used for input/output as desired, even accepting and compressing multiple different items at once (Gold and Lapis, for example).

I'll look into the Crafter, too, when I have time. Thank you for all the help!

It has a mod called compacter that adds just that. A compacter. It's like the autopackager but better. You can make it try 2x2 recipes first, 3x3 recipes first, or only one or the other. It has a special recursive mode where it'll send items back to its input and attempt to compact them again, which is great for compressing cobble or auto-upgrading loot bags. So try that. The recipe ain't half bad either, just a crafting table, redstone, and pistons. The way you use it is a tad different though. It doesn't pull directly from chests, items have to be pumped in. And it only accepts compactible items, meaning itemducts (hopefully) won't send invalid items their way.
