Howdy all, so I am a newb here. I tried searching and did not come up with a answer, so I am gonna ask.

So I am new to A) Modding and B) FTB. I downloaded the launcher over the weekend and love it. I have a few questions. I hop I am not repeating stuff , I looked and did not come up with an answer that I could find. so here we go...

I am running a MAC. I downloaded the launcher.jar and it worked great. my question on this is do I need to use the launcher every time I want to play? When I open it i noticed my player was wearing my skin, so that means it is tied to my regular account right?

Last but not least, can yall point me to a good tutorial video series? I am a big fan of the PaulsoarsJr. stuff and I am hoping that there is something out there similar to that.

There is so much to this pack, I just tend to wander around in wonder at the new things I find!

So, thanks for any help provided. I appreciate it

God Bless YA

You will need to use the launcher every time you play. The reason you have your skin is because the launcher connects to your minecraft account to make sure you have actually paid for minecraft, so it gets your skin from there.

If you want a tutorial series I suggest Direwolf20. His most recent single player LP is probably the best to go through.

Do note, however, that he isn't using the FTB modpack (it wasn't out then) but the list of mods he does use is very similar. Just be aware that RedPower, Equivalent Exchange and Thaumcraft are not in FTB at this time as they are still updating, plus, EE and Thaumcraft have had some major changes to them, so don't expect them to behave in the same way when they do get released.

If you want something that does use the FTB pack (or, more literally, a server where the mod developers can test out their mods and find bugs, get feedback etc.), then check out his server play season 3.

I will warn you now though, that he doesn't always go into into detail about what he is doing, as he sort of expects you to know a bit, plus he is talking with everyone on the server and lets the mod developers have the spot light when they happen to be developing mods, so a bit of inside info if you like.

He also does mod spotlights and especially now, when a mod gets released or some major changes happen he will explain it in a video (as long as it has been released). SO you can watch them as well. Just try and stick to the newer ones as the older videos might be outdated.

No the mods are already downloaded and installed.

Though "installed" often just means they are all dumped into a folder in the minecraft directory and Forge is reading off of them from the actual JAR for code.

I use a mac too, so I was interested in the amount of FPS you get, aanthony3
