Playing the New World mod pack now and magnet mode is stuck on. Clicking the magnet mode option button in the NEI window has no effect. so, is there a way to disable it?

The meteor question. Can meteors land anywhere in the world? If they can land on your house or farms that would be a game breaker for me.

Thanks for any help.

Look at the meteor shield. I don't know how large an area is protected by one, but there is also a torch that will indicate connection

Meteor shield protects a 4 chunk radius (I believe). One of the first things to build to protect your builds. You just need some meteors to fall first...

Thanks for the replies. Maybe yall can tell me what's going in this New World mod. I set up three meteor shields around the village that I'm currently based in until I find a spot for my own base. One of the shields is on top of my house with the other two covering the rest of the village. I'm in my house and I hear explosions. Something blew up right next to my house and two other spots around the village. A lot of damage was done and some weird cat-like creatures appeared with some kind of square cage thing on their head.

This wasn't the aftermath of the meteors I've seen so what happened? If this can't be avoided by some means then that's messed up and a game breaker for me.

Thanks.

Edit: I've since found out what the cat mobs are, a result of the kitty attack meteor shower but the question remains why the village was hit while being covered by the shields.

I think Kitty attacks are able to ignore the shield. That's one part of the Meteor mod that I disable. In the config file you can control which types of meteors are generated and the chance.

Maybe I'm just dense but who in their right mind would build anything out in open if they can't protect it from being randomly wiped out. Would you mind telling me the config file that you edit?

And this magnet mode is driving me nuts. Approach a meteor strike spot and everything lying around gets sucked into my inventory. I'm a walking black hole.

Thanks.

Have you made any tools/armour out of meteor chips? They all have an inbuilt magnet enchant.
Look in the config folder for a file called FallingMeteors.cfg (or something similar, this is all off the top of my head). In there there should be a config to turn on/off different styles of meteor, and also adjust their chance.
In my mod pack, I have kitties down as a 2% chance. I think by default it's 25%, so 1 in 4 of all meteors will always be a kitty attack.

Good mod concept, but needs tweaking from default settings.

Yep. Any Meteorite armor or tools will give you a magnet effect. I make a meteor pickaxe to help me out mining over lava, and once you take it out of your hand, the effect goes away. Armor gives you the effect any time you are wearing it.

I should have mentioned that even having nothing equipped (armor, weapons, tools) has no effect, still magnetized. Now aside from this things have gone from bad to worse. I created a new world and the character was not magnetized so something in the files of my main character was not right. I decided to reload the New World files from FTB. After making a back up of my save file I deleted the New World folder and reloaded from the FTB menu.

Started a new world and first thing I noticed was I no longer had a mini radar map and the "X" key would not display the large map. I exited to the main options window and looked at the mods. Falling Meteors was not listed. I checked the Mods folder under NewWorldModPack/minecraft/mods and no Meteors there anymore and it was before. I quit the game and started up FTB again. Falling Meteor Mod is listed on the main menu of FTB New World mod pack but is not listed in the Mod Pack Editor.

So for some reason the Meteors mod is not being loaded anymore when I launch New World and I don't have the maps now. I'm about to just say fuggit to New World. I tried to like it and wanted to like it.
