Problem New server lag, errors ??

Hi
I just setup my own Gregtech+Unleashed server FTB 1.1.3.
I have a quite bad computer, but the idea was just to play around alone on the server without anyone else and learn more along the way.

But the lag is really bad and i dont find a good reason.

This is my computer:
8GB RAM
Win 8
Intel Core? i5 Quad Processor i5-750

I run the server on the same computer i then use a client to connect.


What can i do to reduce lag?
Is it my computer that is bad, i wont be able to run a server alone with the computer and play on it at the same time?

When i start the server i use this line in the .bat file

java -server -Xms2G -Xmx4G -XX:PermSize=128m -jar ftbserver.jar

I also did a internet speed test on two different sites.
Both showed i had atleast 90+ mbit in download speed and 15+ mbit in upload speed.

That is not a good idea as your computer is not strong enough to do both. It is also suggested that no one do this.

These are not the best arguments for a server. You could try adding these arguments, but again your computer is not good enough to run a server and client at the same time. Feel free to try and prove me wrong.

ok, what is a good argument to use in the .bat file.

just if i find a better computer to use for the host of the server.

That compute is capable of doing both, not very well however, you will have to floe EVERYTHING except ftb (win8 will also take a lot of cpu power up). Also add "-jar yourserverjarhere.jar nogui" to the startup arguments it will help out a LOT. and you should use those JVM arguments lavarthan posted above as well. Performance won't be great but it is doable. (Pretty much any computer can run FTB I got unleashed 1.1.3 to run at 8fps on a 512mb ram raspberry pi)

Are you experiencing network (Block Lag) lag? Or FPS lag?

It's most likely your network. Or, well, to be more precise, because of how many mods Unleashed has, it's going to have slight block delay no matter where you go.
