New server and some basic questions

I just got a server from PytoHost.com. Seems like a good company. Have had a lot of fun testing out the Mindcrack pack but I would like to install some extra mods to open the server up to more players. I am looking for basic stuff such as /home commands, item protection, towns, etc. Doing a little reading I have seen that I have to install MCPC+ for this to work. I am confused on what it does exactly. It allows Bukkit plugins to be used?

Also any great guides/tutorials/threads on general knowledge would be great. Thank you for the help!

Yes, MCPC+ allows you to use bukkit plugins. Its like Bukkitforge but better I think.

Ok I downloaded the jar and placed it into the main folder and renamed the jar to the ftb jar name. It refuses to run. Running MindCrack pack v8.2.0 No real error just does not restart.

MCPC+ highly recommended.

Bukkitforge isn't best friends with plugins like PermissionEX and many other permission based plugins. MCPC + handles those basic permission plugins flawlessly.
