Golrith, I'd be on board if you wanted to reset your Omega Dawn server with this new modpack idea. I haven't been on there in awhile due to RL stuff, but I'm willing to get back into it and be a guinea pig on the server.

Magic Farm actually has nothing to do with Magic... I just suck at names. Its a tech based starvation/survival pack. AS is Agrarian Skies: Hardcore Quest, a skyblock pack and map based loosely off MF2 but going in a different direction. You can pull the 2 "magic " mods out of both packs without breaking or changing the gameplay. The main focus of MF2 is Hunger Overhaul, TinCon Tweaks, Father Toasts mods, Minetweaker to create a fully customized tech tree where all the mods play together and feel like 1 game , Thermal Expansion, MFR and Extra Utilities. AS uses Nether Ores and some evil tweaks to make it a cost/reward decision to use the nether or stay in the skyblock world. It also has quest integration being added. You really ought to try playing those packs before making another along the same theme. Because right now your pack reads like either a mash up of MF2 and BnB or one of the 2 with a few mods added. *shrug*
Personally, I'd rather we shorthand Agrarian Skies as AgS to prevent overlap with Atomic Science, a UE mod that's not half bad.

Hey, wondered where you've been. I wasn't thinking of the server, but being as you are the main player and donator, I'm happy enough to reset it. Be a while though, all these configs to wade through and test.

That's cool, take your time. I set up a LAN server for my daughter and myself with RR, but she doesn't play nearly as much as this old man. :)

I didn't play with extra biomes much but didn't that Wasteland biome grow like taint? That wasteland mechanic would be cool with deforestation.

I believe the wasteland used to spread in an earlier version of BoP, but it was disabled/removed.
But the idea of adding a greater chance of taint would add to the limited resources option.

This modpack will be great if they use it! I would suggest Aether II once it updates to 1.6.4, but I'm not sure how well it works with EnviroMine

Ooh, I just thought of something. Add Technomancy once Harder Taint is done. There are plans to make taint more than a minor nuisance.

Good luck. Best I've seen people do is delay endgame.

I would be glad to see some MC related seasons that drastically effect modded minecraft stuff. For instance a seasons of electrical storms that stop all power from being transfered. A season where stuff just doesnt grow. A season where lights dont stop spawns. A season where mobs try to raid your house (as in they target chests, AE drive/chests, etc). A season where water is finite. Maybe even certain foods need to be eaten in certain seasons/biomes as a similation of spoilage avoidance.

Of course it could reverse in other seasons to compensate where in power output doubles, mobs dont spawn anywhere etc. Then again this could be a double edged sword too. Just thinking out loud, dont mind me...

Anything that's done will just delay "EndGame", this pack included.


Ouch to that idea :D

One immediate issue with this is server vs single player play. On a server you could easily miss seasons, single player you could get stuck in a season for a long time. Would need a config that adjusts a seasons timescale.
Pretty much the same issues you get with a chunkloaded server vs single player, time becomes the key resource.


Tweaked EnviroMine so that there's more "backbone" to the world. You can now build bigger before blocks fall. Makes the world slightly safer, but makes building anything less annoying. Just need to see if the landslides can be tweaked a bit.
The Miners Delight plant from BoP will now live up to it's name with EnviroMine.

Decided against the Iguana Tweaks for Tinkers Construct. With such limited ore gen, working through the progression would be a big burden. Instead, up to Iron all the vanilla tools have had their recipes changed to Tinkers components. Stone tools though are now made from Flint. Once you have Iron, you then have to work out how to make Steel to make progress in the tech mods. Three options are available, one lowtech, but dangerous to obtain, one relies on RNG, the other is more high-tech and a bigger resource investment. Choices choices...

Looking at other tools, the RedPower gem tools have been removed, plus Meks bronze equipment has also been removed (it's stats are better than vanilla/RC). Osmium + Mek Steel equipment will have it's recipes changed, osmium is better then RC steel/iron but can be mined easily. Might add a circuit to the recipe to move it further down the tech tree.[DOUBLEPOST=1395390567][/DOUBLEPOST]

Sounds like a good idea. Taint needs a "buff".
I've already doubled the chance of tainted biomes, those you will want to avoid until you can do something about them (then plunder the resources in those chunks...)

For those interested, spent quite a bit of time figuring out the configs for Father Toasts mob properties. Things are quite a bit different from vanilla now, "player kill" mob farms could be quite useful, if you can afford to build one and find the right the mob.

Other tweaks proceeding quite nicely, a few bumps to get over. World gen is about as good as I can make it what with the minimum cluster size problem.
EnviroMine physics toned down a bit, you should be able to build a 9x9 without the roof falling down...

Removed Mekanism Tools in the end, just couldn't "balance" those tools with every other mod in the pack. Would have helped if they could be disabled from mobs by config.

Twilight Forest is in the pack, it's just "gated". You can only access it via Stargates (on a server).

Cool. I didn't know you could do that. Am I correct to assume that the same goes for the Erebus (I think it's in your pack since it's on the mod list)

Limiting dimensions would be an admin task on the server. I set the config for TF to OP only to make a portal. So admin OP visits the TF normally, builds a stargate there, notes down address, return to overworld, destroy the portal.
The same could be done with The Erebus, if Minetweaker is used to remove the crafting recipe for the spider eye on a stick. OPs can still spawn in that stick. Might actually do that. Building a stargate to visit another dimension feels more rewarding.

In an early map I hid (with 500 meters of the spawn area) parts of the stargate address to the TF, just to give the other players a challenge.

Is this just an idea or is it created? I like it, and would suggest adding tconstruct, iguana's tinker tweaks, and tsteelworks. If you configure them a bit, they make the ore mining level and tool construction really great.
