Nether portals built above bedrock makes new portal on return.

I built a nether portal above the nether ceiling and it teleports me to the overworld just fine but on return creates a new portal. Should I build a new portal at the same Y height to stop this behavior?

Nether portals are coded so that if you build one above bedrock you cannot use it to get back there. A portal that is above bedrock will only send you to the overworld, it cannot be used to get back to above the nether.

I use the enhanced charm of dislocation. I just wanted one for aesthetics you know being the nether and all.
