Mod Pack: Infinity
Mods Added: Galacticraft, Mekanism, Matter Overdrive, Random Things, Magical Crops (may remove), Garden Stuff, and Malisis' Doors
Texture Pack: Sphax

Since I'm at an early part of building this base I thought I might as well ask for advice.

To start here's the outside and inside of the piston powered vault door just beyond the entryway and before the atrium is what's going to be an decontamination room(ignore the mess that's temporary).

Next is the atrium itself. The atrium will have two (maybe three) floors with each floor hold four apartment's and a window from the overseer's office looking over the room ala 101, each apartment is made up of three room's consenting of a 5x7 living area, 4x3 bedroom, and a 2x3 bathroom. I will be raising the balcony by one block so that the stair's are more uniform.

I don't really like the laboratory wall blocks I used, to bland and not lore friendly, and while I most definitely want the floor's to be made of concrete the only option is the worn concrete technical block from chisel, so if anyone can point me at a good concrete mod I'd appreciate it.

use factory blocks, accent them with carpenters slopes and project red lights. take inspiration from people like iskall85's survival stories letsplays and ethos crackpack bunker on youtube

Yeah. Factory Blocks would be my choice too.
Unless you are going for the lighter Fallout 1-2 look?

Lost as always
Vault-Tech has several construction options to protect YOU from the possibility of nuclear fallout, and any unpleasant neighbors which might come knocking at your door.

For the metallic, sleek, newer-than-tomorrow look, you have only to look at the Factory Block for your answer! Be it striping to indicate caution, corrugated metal walls, or perhaps you wish to have that 'clearly NOT done by Vault-Tech, falling apart at the seams' look, there are also rusted versions. Clearly, someone has been lax in their maintenance duties!

The other option is, of course, the classic concrete or cinder block design. This retro look hearkens back to the earliest days of the nuclear era, and is also easily obtainable. Simply smelt up gravel, and there you go. Now wasn't that easy? You can do a smooth concrete surface, since Chisel2 comes with Connected Textures functionality, or you can have a more weathered look if you prefer. Smooth Stone brick can also easily give the impression of cinder block if you prefer.

Thanks for the suggestions, and to answer your question Azzanine, what I'm trying to go for is a freshly built look as seen in Vault 81 and Pre-war 111 so I'm going to work in some blue and yellow.

IC2 construction foam is my material of choice on bunker style builds. It has an interesting building mechanic, is paintable, and blast resistant so it fits the theme.

And you even, sometimes, get the scaffold back.

What resource are you using? Because you are certainly not using the default x16 textures, and as such,

* adding a random mod your resource pack does not cater for is not going to fit your theme unless you also add corresponding x64 textures, so
* if you are adding textures anyway, just make the laboratory wall textures more interesting, or
* otherwise poke through your resource pack to see if it already contains a suitable looking texture, and what mod:block that texture is assigned to, then install that mod, or
* Find a different HQ texture pack that has chisel support and more Fallout themed textures.

Ok, so I just went into my test world and as it turns out Reinforced Stone CAN'T be painted so that's out, I did however like the smelted gravel concrete that I somehow missed and will be using that. Again, thanks for the suggestions but before I close this out I have one last question, which Minecraft blue do you think is the best match for Vault-tec blue? Cyan, Light Blue, or Blue?

Probably cyan, the vault boy's jacket isn't that deep or bright of a blue. I'd say cyan is right in between.
