I recently bred Savant bees in the hopes that I could get lore fragments easily, and finish the golem accessory research. However, after breeding this bee, I have hit a brick wall. The lore fragment (used to make knowledge fragment) is a specialty - not a normally produced item. Just to be perfectly clear to people that don't know bees so well, in order to get a specialty you need to be in the biome that the bee prefers (EX. the austere bees need to be in Hot/arid biome to get powdery combs, and any other climate that they can tolerate living in will only produce Parched combs.)

The Savant bee requires a Normal/arid biome to produce it's specialty - I have been unable to find a biome with this climate.
I haven't had a need for the alverary hygroregulator before, will that work? Is it my only option or does anyone know of a biome that has normal/arid climate?

According to the 2 lists I looked at there isn't one in FTB, so you will need to use heater(s), fan(s), and/or hygroregulator(s) depending on your biome.

I was in a Meadow biome which is Normal/Normal and they are producing Lore Fragments for me right now. I have adjusted their climate tolerances up and down to work with them more easily. I also have them still using Books as their flowering type. So far so good.

I'm pretty sure I've observed bees producing their specialty outside their preferred climate, given enough tolerance. Early on, it's helpful to acclimatize a whole stack of drones to Both_5/Both_5, then isolate that trait so you can inoculate all future bees with it. I'll have to do some testing to be sure, but my impression is that Both_5 allows bees to produce their specialty in any climate (with the possible exception of extremes like icy bees in the nether or nether bees in an icy biome).

The only bee that I know of that is biome restricted for specialty items is the Austere, which requires a desert. Every other bee produces fine in any climate, provided it's not a hostile environment for the bee. (which you can easily get around with the extra bee machines).
