I am looking for a book mod for my recent wilderness survival modpack Lost and Alone. What I want is to be able to put in guide books into the pack that the players can craft. These guides will help provide info to the players that they can't get elsewhere in the game. This will help the over the hurdle with some of the more complicated mods. Tinkers constuct and Agricraft already have guide books that were created by their authors.

The first book i want to add is called "Mining Safety Handbook" which will tell all about the hazards of underground mining (thanks to the mod Enviromine) and the precautions need to be taken to stay safe underground.

The second book i want to add "A Guide to Animal Husbandry" which will give the player information and advice to deal with the more complex animal taming and breeding elements of this pack thanks to Hungry Animals and Better Breeds.

there maybe even more books I want to create as the pack grows and gets other potentially complex mods.

As i said, I want to be to write the book in some kind of text document or config file and then have them be available to craft in the game. Does anybody know of any mod that allows you to do that?

Try taking a look at enchiridion It lets you create custom books that can be given to players. All the editing is done in-game, allowing you to creat diagrams of items in game as well as showing recipes.

I'd have to check it out. I don't want to 'give' it to players, I want them to be able to craft them, like the have to the craft the tinker's construct (i turned off the starter book in the config) and the agircraft book. The whole idea is they don't start with any books but can craft any books that they want to get to learn about certain mods or to use as reference.

Well if it does not add a way to craft the book it would not be hard to add a recipe for the book using minewteaker.

Yes, you can simply use Minetweaker once you've made the book to create some sort of recipe. Should work unless the mod somehow conflicts with Minetweaker.
