I hope this is ok to post in the general section ...

My PC is currently being built (I am moving from a Mac) and I need to purchase an Internet Security/Anti-Virus/Full PC Security program, but I have been reading various reviews and some people love one brand, but others hate it.
I know they are prone to slowing down your PC, which I want to avoid as much as possible.

Currently, I am looking at Norton 360 or Internet Security and Kaspersky Internet Security, but they both seem to have some very good and some very bad reviews

So if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!

Alice :)

Personally Norton is out for me. The problem is a lot of viruses act as Norton Anti-Virus, as it is one of the most used and well known Security programs. I use McAfee, it doesn't slow my computer down in the slightest, and it has a nice interface. Fairly cheap aswell ;)

Are you going to be using Windows 7 or 8?
For Windows 7, Windows Security Essentials is all you need.
For Windows 8, you don't need to do anything!

Like Rampant sed, More then security essentials you dont need. If you use common sense and dont start downloading any crap or going on every porn page out there you wont ever have issues.

Thanks everyone.

I have gone for Windows 7.

Perhaps I will start off with security essentials, then if I feel I need more, I will probably go for Kaspersky.

or going on every porn page out there you wont

Kaspersky, NOD32 or security essentials basically. Though with essentials you will need to be a little more careful.
