First, I'm digging the berries and the easy over saturate just on their own. What does the berry medley do that the berries don't do on their own?

Offer more saturation. Just munching single berries takes forever to fill up meat sticks and it doesn't stick to your stomach. You need pure fruit cocktail with corn syrup and riboflavin to keep your hunger in check!

lol...

I did finally find a youtube telling about the berries. It of course isn't on a spotlight as you would think... I found it on the 2nd episode of dw's forge1 server play series...
single berries fill a half hunger bar but saturate for days. Berry medleys feed like bread and saturate for days. It will be the ftb goto food from here out I imagine. if for nothing else, for the antioxidents of course...

now that I think about it... maybe it should be something that would have some negative buff to poison? hmm...

I doubt it will be a goto food. Having to fumble with bowls loses its novelty after a while ;)
Well, in my past world, i had a 20-something by 10 3 high farming area surrounded by fully grown berry bushes (i was pretty proud of that ;)), and food was never a problem, even when i was too lazy to mess with bowls.

There are so many other easy-to-get foods that don't, for example, require you to collect and craft four different items together (however easy they are to get).
It's the same reason I rarely use pumpkin pie.
Beef and pork are just as good and far easier to collect (and require little to no crafting).

Berries are fantastic before you can start proper automation. As soon as you do, there are other food sources that are by far superior. Apples from an MFR tree farm, or chickens from a chicken farm (you can even make automatic grilled chicken factory without ever touching a mod) would probably be the easiest and quickest to set up that I can think of right of the bat. Might have missed some though.

But simply making a few chickens on hoppers shooting the eggs back in will have you at 50 chickens at no time, which means you'll have 300-600 eggs per hour, which means an average of roughly 60 baby chickens per hour, which means basically 60 fried chicken per hour. Easy, stacks well, gives a lot of saturation. And this is without mods.

But making an automated system to craft pumpkin pies for you is a nice project. :) At least they stack so it's not that bad.
I should have specified that I was talking about vanilla...
But the thought of using them in FTB never occured to me because I often disregard them in regular play.

Well, there's a project for me :)

Apple trees? I have a small orchard of them, and they supply more than enough apples for me. The leaves work like berry bushes, so they always replenish themselves.
