Lost as always
Okay, so I upgraded Natura to the Beta version, and I'm wondering what good these new bows made of flamestring and nether wood are. Do they do more damage? Can they be enchanted easier? Do they have nifty special effects? The materials are significantly harder to come across (heck, with Natura, you can have string from your cotton and sticks from your tree farm and never once have to leave your base).

if im not mistaken, they have a higher durability and also shoot arrows at a greater speed than the vanilla minecraft bow.

While its a necrobump, I'm going to ignore that. ^^
I looked at the source code, it looks like it just has more durability.

It would be kinda cool if the fusewood bow caused mini explosions, and the bloodwood bow caused some kind of drain effect. Maybe the darkwood bow can cause blindness... I know these don't, but the first time I saw them, I was hoping they would.

I could be wrong, in fact there is a decent probability, but it was my understanding the Natura bows have differing levels of durability (Fusewood the lowest 60ish uses, and Bloodwood the highest with a staggering 1500 and change uses). In addition I think they all, regardless of durability, do 8 damage at full charge (4 hearts) where normal bows do 4 damage (2 hearts). I keep meaning to set up a shooting range to test that, but that's what I read somewhere. With damage indicators on, should be pretty easy to test out.

Quickly checked my facts. Scratch that, they do the same as normal bows. Only difference is durability. And Fusewood is only 28 uses, Darkwood like 120is, Ghostwood 350ish, and Bloodwood 1501.

Sorry for mistake.

No, you aren't.

It only seems faster because there isn't any gradual FoV decrease. At first glance, they seem faster than the vanilla bows, but after counting it's the exact same across all bows. Also, there may be a difference in the positioning of the arrow on the bow textures, causing it to look like it's closer, but I'm not entirely sure.

Do the Nether bow strings (fuse-whatever, can't recall) improve draw speed or is that just a required component for making a Natura bow? Be nice if they at least had a faster draw speed...Sadly, I suspect the later rather than the former.

The nether bows all use the exact same code as normal bows. The only difference is durability.

Edit: And appearance. <_<

Bah, as I feared. Still, durability is nice for enchanted bows. Er, you can enchant them, right?

does anyone know which of the four bows are most durable, as i had a ghostwood and darkwood bow, however i enchanted both and it seemed to me that ghostwood was more enchantable than the darkwood, but it broke very quickly? is it the case that the more enchantable the bow type, the less durability it has? or am i just imagining things?

Imagining things, unless somebody can prove otherwise with code.

The bloodwood bow has the most durability (1500 uses), while the fusewood bow has the least (28). Ghostwood bows have normal bow durability, and darkwood bows have in between ghostwood durability and bloodwood durability, although I might of gotten the two (ghostwood and darkwood) mixed up.

I would assume the durability is based upon how rare/hard to get each tree is.

Bloodwood has the most durability out of all of them. The more enchants an item has, the more durability damage it takes. All four bows are equally enchantable.

Tinker's Construct's bow is my favorite. Slap some moss on there and it doesn't matter - by the time you go to use it again it's already fully repaired.
