So, does the mystcraft worlds follow the vanilla engine of keeping spawn loaded into ram at startup? Sort of like a blessing (free chunk loader) and curse (high memory usage with multiple worlds).

I have definitely noticed some odd behavior, but haven't tested extensively. It doesn't appear to behave the same way that the vanilla dimensions do (overworld, nether, end) where a world is "unloaded" if there are no player characters in it even if a chunk loader is in it.

I haven't checked the end yet, but the nether and the overworld no longer unload if you use a chunk loader (1.4 change, I think).

@ OP, if I'm understanding your question correctly, Mystcraft worlds do NOT load at startup, regardless of the presence of a chunk loader. Once entered and loaded, however, chunk loaders work as normal.

I would agree with Bagman817 & its the reason most servers do not allow the creation of new mysthcraft ages, nether, end unload as soon as you leave I have tested this one my self, in the over world the chunk your were in on logout unloads a set time after I think it was mentioned as 15 minutes on the MC forums awhile ago, but I think its shorter more like 10.

I don't know if it was changed since a this was a few versions back, but I think the nether or the End only unload if you use the vanilla method of travelling back to the overworld (nether/end portals).
If you use a mystcraft linking book to return to the overworld then the Chunkloaders work just fine.

Like I said though, it has been a long time since I tested that.
