I'm trying to get into Mystcraft but it seems i'm unable to even craft the descriptive books.

I have followed the WIKI and crafted a Book Binder and then placed leather into the top left slot with paper in the center but no descriptive book appears on the right.

I've watched several videos showing this process but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Am i missing something that's changed in Infinity?

The wiki you followed are quite outdated it seems. You need to use the Ink Mixer to make a Panel. This needs to be added first in the Book Binder and then followed by the pages.

Sorry to bring back an old thread but i have the same problem
Infinity 1.6.2, got the link panel, put it in the book binder with some leather in and no descriptive book
Tried to check in the config if something was disabled but can't find anything (all true for what i can see), re-launch the pack, made and extra link panel if the first one was bugged, put leather after the panel but nothing worked
I could make a linking book without problem but the descriptive one really don't want to be crafted :(
Any suggestion?

EDIT: finally solved, looks like the descriptive book appears in the book binder only if you name it :D
