so yea for my server i want an mining age, oil biome age, lava ocean age.
now i have been trying to create the mining age.

but for some reason even with the wiki and guides i still get random worlds without any of my modifiers exept for flat(mining age)

now can anybody maby just show me either a up-to-date easy guide.(the ones i found i just couldnt figure it out)
or if some 1 can just give me a list i can use to create the age.
this is for the ftb unleashed pack.

thanks for reading atleast :)

You have to provide descriptions for every feature a world would have. Even if you have it set to always be daytime, you still have to define the behavior of the stars and moon, for example.

Are you able to generate "normal" ages without obvious instability?

EDIT: also helpful is to slap a 'clear modifiers' page at the end of the book, always. This makes sure you don't have any dangling modifiers. If I remember correctly several of the biome controllers would leave 'dangling' modifiers otherwise, causing you grief.

This is not entirely correct in 0.10.05 (the current version in FTB Unleashed). The "must have"s now are only Weather, Terrain and Biome/Controller. A simple description like "Normal Weather, Plains, Single Biome, Flat" can create a stable age already, unless the randomizer adds stuff like diamond tendrils or anything else that is considered "greedy".

For a mining age I would start with:
"Extreme Hills, Single Biome, Flat, No Weather, Bright Lighting" and see what you get. You want to have the ground as solid as possible (unless you like caving), so add a couple surface structures like Huge Trees, Obelisks and Villages. This will discourage the randomizer to put things like mineshafts under ground.
If you want a Dense Ore age, use "Eternal Rain" instead, add "Dense Ores" and a number of instabilities like "Charged" x3 and "Scorched Surface" x3.

For a Lava age:
"Ocean biome, Single Biome, Lava, Stone, Standard Terrain, No Weather". Then a number of underground structures, like Mineshafts, Dungeons, Caves in order to avoid overworld stuff like tendrils, trees or spheres. Again, try it, check what you get, modify the description with some more features.

For an Oil Biome age:
Forget it, use Refined Bees instead. ;)

One thing, in the current version you will never get exactly what you want, even if you specify every detail. The next version (for Minecraft 1.6.2) has a lot of interesting changes though, among them a toned down randomizer.

I seemed to get exactly what I wrote in Ultimate, is the Mystcraft version significantly changed between versions?

I'd expect the more specific you are the less room for random features.

Good to know you can create useful ages though without finding quite so many pages, though!

0.10.04 was a complete rewrite of the world generation that uses a new "grammar" system. And it seems to need a few iterations for fix some issues and also get it balanced.

Right now you are mostly getting, what you specify ... and a whole lot more. :)
For instance, you can specify more than a dozen features and it will still add some random more to your world. 0.10.04 had the same issue with the biome descriptions, but this seems to be fixed in the current FTB version.

On the bright side, it's now really easy to get stable ages.
