I am trying to make a void age that is always sunny and has a black sky. Here is what i have tried so far but its not completely working. I'll get a black sky but not always sunny or always sunny with the sky at noon but a gray sky.

Here is what i have tried.

forest biome
single biome
dark lighting
normal sun
normal moon
normal stars
zenith
zero length
boundless sky
black
sky color
no weather
void
clear modifiers

Put the "zenith" and "zero length" pages immediately before the "normal sun" page. The "zenith" and "zero length" symbols are modifiers, and so must go before the page they modify (in this case, they modify the "normal sun" page), just like adjectives in English. In your case, the "zenith" and "zero length" pages have no idea what they're modifying (they should work on a normal moon, too, by the way), so they don't get used (which would cause instability if the "clear modifiers" page wasn't there), and result in a random sun.

Also, (this may or not actually be a problem) I would put the "void" page immediately after the "single biome" page. I'm not sure as to whether the biomes and the biome types (i.e. single biome, large biomes) are modifiers to the terrain type page ("void" in your case) in the version of Mystcraft you're using, but if they are, they might get taken up by some page between them (the way you've ordered the pages) and cause problems.

Another thing- Mobs won't spawn in your age (spawners and the like will still work though) if you use the Mushroom Island Biome.

It's worth reading up on Mystcraft's grammar system if you're writing ages, to learn how the order affects things. "Zenith" and "Zero Length" are basically adjectives to the "Normal Sun" noun, so they should be right before the sun. Think of it the same way you form sentences when you're speaking and it makes a bit more sense. And remember that hanging modifiers (your zenith and zero length) cause instability, as does the clear modifiers symbol if it has to do anything.

It's been a bit weird lately though. Recent versions have been tricky to write with, sometimes it overwrites symbols you put in for seemingly no reason (i.e. your gray sky). It's much more forgiving than it used to be though, skipping certain symbols doesn't guarantee instability anymore.

And definitely use mushroom island voids, unless you want mobs for some reason. Much easier when you don't have to worry about the light levels.
